How Safe are Sydney Wrinkle Injections in Pyrmont?

Anti Wrinkle Injections   ·   September 5, 2009

A popular question that is asked at my Sydney practice and in popular magazines is ‘how safe is Wrinkle Injection?
People are understandably concerned about injecting a medicine into their skin. Particularly given that this medicine was originally derived from a toxin- one of the most potent toxins known to mankind in fact. A wise medieval alchemist by the name of Paracelsus once said that ‘…everything is a poison. All that matters is the dose’.

Panadol in small doses is great for treating aches and pains even in children. But taking just a few more than what is recommended in the directions you risk dying from a painful liver failure demise. Every year several people die in Australia from such a fate. Likewise, aspirin in most cases is a great pain reliever and great for heart disease prevention. However, thousands of Australians suffer from gastric bleeding and irritation related to aspirin use. Even humble water in large enough doses can make you very unwell and even cause death. Water overload is often the number one cause of death and disability in Australian hospitals.

Wrinkle Injection is derived from a toxin produced by a bacteria called Clostridium Wrinkle Injection. It is a very potent neurotoxin. One of the most potent neurotoxins in the world in fact. In very large doses it can make you very unwell. It works by stopping nerves ‘talking’ to muscles so thereby relaxing those same muscles. When it is purified and used in the hands of a trained practitioner it is very safe. Arguably it is one of the safest prescription medicines in the world. The results of Wrinkle Injection are consistently excellent. The adverse reactions to Wrinkle Injection are extraordinary low. And those that do occur are usually relatively benign. Perhaps one in ten people develop small bruising which settles at most in a few days. Very rarely- particularly if the patient rubs the treated area soon after treatment- a temporary brow droop may ensue. Anything more serious is extraordinarily rare.

Wrinkle Injection has been used in children for many years in a condition known as Cerebral Palsy. In this condition, the child’s limb muscles develop severe spasms that make movement difficult. Wrinkle Injection is used here- often in large doses (several times the doses used in cosmetic Wrinkle Injection). It restores form and some function to the affected limb and can greatly improve the quality of life for the child and their carers. Even here the incidence of serious adverse reactions are rare.

In summary- only placebos have no adverse reactions. All medicines can have ill effects. Wrinkle Injection included. But in the right hands and when used judiciously it is one of the most safe precription medicines available.
